My CBD Story

My journey with CBD starting back during Oct 2018. I had been coordinating a project for a Drug and Alcohol company, managing staff, supporting individuals at risk of substance use and actively using/abusing substances and of course dealing with the dreaded report. I had just finished performing in a sell out run of the Greatest Showman stage version, I was exhausted, with pain flare ups from Fibromyalgia, low moods, not sleeping and work stress I was not in a good place. Around this time CBD was hitting the market. I had been contemplating going to my GP for some medication to help with all my symptoms, I was reluctant as I generally stay away from prescribed medication unless absolutely necessary. As a substance use counsellor for 10 years I thought I knew about Cannabis. I both did know a lot and didn’t know enough. All my training to date had focused on tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the bit that gets you high. I had not had any training and limited awareness of what cannabidiol or CBD was and what it actually did. for the next 4 months I read up and researched as much as possible what CBD was, what it did and how I could get this product. From the end of January 2019 I commenced my CBD journey, I have not looked back. Straight away I could see how quickly my sleep improved, how my pain reduced and my  moods improved. CBD did not cure my ailments, but it did help me mange them a lot better.

From this personal experience, I could see the benefits for friends and family. As they also started using this product I saw how it helped them with issues such as anxiety, low moods, aches, pains, inflammation etc. I felt that CBD would be a natural product to add to my counselling work to help clients deal with anxiety, and it has been. I have seen great results from clients of all ages who had been dealing with the physical aspects of anxiety and in essence debilitating them from living a full life. Although they do still need to work on the cognitive processes that goes along with anxiety and this is achieved via counselling, use of CBT and mindfulness based cognitive therapy.
